Utilizing the unique features of the scanning atom probe (SAP) the binding states of the biomolecules, leucine and methionine, are investigated at atomic level. The molecules are mass analyzed by detecting a single atom and/or clustering atoms field evaporated from a specimen surface. Since the field evaporation is a static process, the evaporated clustering atoms are closely related with the binding between atoms forming the molecules. For example, many thiophene radicals are detected when polythiophene is mass analyzed by the SAP. In the present study the specimens are prepared by immersing a micro cotton ball of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) in the leucine or methionine solution. The mass spectra obtained by analyzing the cotton balls exhibit singly and doubly ionized carbon ions of SWCNT and the characteristic fragments of the molecules, CH3, CHCH3, C4H7, CHNH2 and COOH for leucine and CH3, SCH3, C2H4, C4H7, CHNH2 and COOH for methionine.  相似文献

We investigate the quantum dynamics of two‐boson and two‐level systems interacting with a one‐mode photon field. The time evolution of the population for each state is calculated in terms of the Jaynes–Cummings model. Thermal response was measured for a deeply supercooled glycerol specimen by applying calorimetric temperature scanning rate spectroscopy, cooling the specimen from liquid at a slow constant cooling rate until glass transition was observed. The effective fraction of glass as a function of temperature was determined and a new definition of glass transition temperature, TgC, as the temperature at which the effective glass fraction to be 0.5 was presented. The relation between this and the cooling rate showed the Arrhenius behavior. The effective glass fraction curves shifted linearly as a function of ln(cooling rate). When T was scaled to the Lillie Number, the glass fraction lay on a master curve, which was successfully fitted with a Kohlrausch–Williams–Watts function. The Kohlrausch exponent, the relaxation time as a function of temperature and the kinetic fragility index were determined. The results were compared with literature values.  相似文献

Radical addition to a glyoxylic oxime ether was accomplished under mild conditions using an alkyl radical generated from a free carboxylic acid via photochemical decarboxylation. We report Raman scattering spectra for single crystals of overdoped Tl2Ba2CuO6+δ (Tl-2201) at low temperatures. It was observed that the pair-breaking peaks in A1g and B1g spectra radically shift to lower energy with carrier doping. We interpret it as s-wave component mixing into d-wave, although the crystal structure is tetragonal. Since similar phenomena were observed also in YBa2Cu3Oy and Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oz, we conclude that s-wave mixing is a common property for overdoped high-Tc superconductors.  相似文献

A novel preparation method for the core‐shell type biodegradable polyesters or biodegradable materials grafted with biodegradable polyesters was developed by alkaline surface treatment of biodegradable polyester films and subsequent enzymatic polymerization of aliphatic lactones, one example of which is shown in this study, i.e., the preparation of poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) film grafted with poly(ε‐caprolactone). It is revealed that only alkaline surface treatment or the combination of alkaline surface treatment and enzyme‐catalyzed grafting, the former and the latter, respectively accelerating and delaying the enzymatic degradation of PLLA, will give PLLA materials having a wide variety of biodegradability. Also, the specificity of the enzyme used for hydrolysis could be used to confirm the grafted chain species.

Summary: Coexisting bicontinuous morphologies, one ordered and one disordered, are investigated in a macrophase‐separated poly(styrene‐block‐isoprene) diblock copolymer/homopolystyrene (SI/hS) blend. Two‐phase behavior is attributed to the relatively high hS/S mass ratio (0.92). According to its crystallographic signature and channel coordination as discerned from three‐dimensional (3D) images generated by transmission electron microtomography (TEMT), the ordered morphology is classified as gyroid. The 3D local and global topological characteristics of both bicontinuous morphologies as measured directly from TEMT images are reported. The disordered morphology is further compared with molecular‐field simulations to ascertain the spatial distribution of the constituent species within the blend, thereby demonstrating the utility of high‐resolution 3D imaging coupled with molecular‐level simulations.

We examined the proton relaxation times in vitro in various neurological diseases using experimental and clinical materials, and consequently obtained significant results for making a fundamental analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as followings. 1) In the brain edema and cerebral infarction, T1 prolonged and T2 separated into two components, one fast and one slow. Prolongation of T1 referred to the volume of increased water in tissue. The slow component of T2 reflects both the volume and the content of increased edema fluid in tissue. 2) In the edematous brain tissue with the damaged Blood-Brain-Barrier (BBB), the slow component of T2 became shorter after the injection of Mn-EDTA. Paramagnetic ion could be used as an indicator to demonstrate the destruction of BBB in the brain. 3) After the i.v. injection of glycerol, the slow component of T2 became shorter in the edematous brain with the concomitant decrease of water content. The effects of therapeutic drug could be evaluated by the measurement of proton relaxation times. 4) Almost all tumor tissue showed a longer T1 and T2 values than the normal rat brain, and many of them showed two components in T2. It was difficult to determine the histology of tumor tissue by the relaxation time alone because of an overlap of T1 and T2 values occurred among various types of brain tumors. 5) In vivo T1 values of various brain tumor were calculated from the data of MRIs by zero-crossing method, and they were compared with the in vitro T1 values which were measured immediately after the surgical operation. Though the absolute value did not coincide with each other due to differences in magnetic field strength, the tendency of the changes was the same among all kinds of tumors. It is concluded that the fundamental analysis of proton relaxation times is essentially important not only for the study of pathophysiology in many diseases but also for the interpretation of clinical MRI.  相似文献
